    Regular Meeting Minutes

    April 13, 2024

    The meeting was called to order at 1:08 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Riverton. Officers present: Jim Brines (President), Shawn Raymond (Vice President), Jacque Stoldt (Treasurer), and Esther Jarvis (Secretary). Deb Palmer (Board Member) was absent. There were 11 members in person and 2 members via Zoom at the meeting. Jacque Stoldt read the meeting minutes from the March 9, 2024 meeting. Shawn Raymond motioned to accept the minutes as read. Terry Irvin seconded the motion. All ayes; motion passed. Jacque Stoldt read the treasurer’s report. Shawn Raymond motioned to accept the treasurer's report. Janiece Robinson seconded the motion. All ayes; motion passed. Correspondence: Nothing at this time. Officer/Committee Reports: Nothing at this time. Claim Post Committee: Discussed that need to see who is on the committee and exchange phone numbers, plan to go out and update posts at the next meeting. Bob Platzer reported that he just drove through South Pass and the area still has a lot of snow drifts and the gate at the campground is still buried in snow. A discussion ensued about which claims would be accessible with the snow as well as what type of posts to utilize and how to navigate the area to place posts. Old Business: Annual Outing: The outing will be June 21st-23rd this year. Ron Bixler agreed to host us again, so it will be in the same place as last year, next to the old Bridgebuster claim. We are asking that you tell us if you are going to come, so that we can have a head count for the dinner. You can email wpagold@wyoming.com or call or text 307-333-3061 to RSVP. Discussed what type of meat to order, we can hold on the decision on quantity as Custom Meats only needs 1 week notice to provide the meat. Other items that need to be done for outing: Porta potty’s need to be ordered, decide on what items to use for the raffle, hats need to be ordered. A discussion ensued regarding advertising and getting more people interested in the outing as well as prospecting. A flyer could be made to advertise and could ask members to hang them in public areas around the state. Jacque Stoldt volunteered to contact the ICMJ to see if there is t ime to put an advertisement in before the next publishing date. Bob Platzer motioned to place an add in the ICMJ for the outing. Randy Hutchinson seconded the motion. All ayes; motion passed. New Business: Gold in Your Backyard: Keith Blair stated he was contacted by a producer of the Gold in Your Backyard Show to collect information about the WPA. He is meeting with them this next week and will update us at the next meeting. Memorial Service will be held on July 13th for Eugene Raymond at 10am at the Davis Funeral Home in Riverton, a light luncheon will be served at the Reach Foundation following the service. Anyone is welcome to bring a dish to share. The next meeting will be at the Miner’s Grubstake in Atlantic City on May 11, 2024. Breakfast will be available for $14.00 per person if you would like to eat. We will meet at 9:00 am for breakfast, and begin the meeting when we finish eating, around 10:00. After the meeting, there will be an outing to start replacing claim corner posts. If you can help, we would really appreciate it! Thank you! Kathy Irvin won the 50/50 raffle.
