    Wyoming Prospector’s Association
    Regular Meeting Minutes
    March 9, 2024
The meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m. at the Riverton Branch Library in Riverton.
Officers present: Jim Brines (President), Shawn Raymond (Vice President), Jacque Stoldt (Treasurer), and Deb Palmer (Board Member).  Esther Jarvis (Secretary) was absent.
There were 7 members in person and 2 members via Zoom at the meeting.
Jacque Stoldt read the meeting minutes from the November 11, 2023 meeting.  Shawn Raymond motioned to accept the minutes as read.  Deb Palmer seconded the motion.  All ayes; motion passed.
Jacque Stoldt read the treasurer’s report.  Shawn Raymond motioned to accept the treasurer's report. Chip Lansberry seconded the motion. All ayes; motion passed.
Correspondence: The Prospecting and Mining Journal was renewed for 2 years. Jacque called the owners of the magazine to ask if we could put the digital link on our members only site. They asked us respectfully not to do so, because they rely on the annual memberships to help pay for the circulation, so we are only getting the print version.
Officer/Committee Reports:  Nothing at this time.
Annual Outing: The outing will be June 21st-23rd this year. Ron Bixler agreed to host us again, so it will be in the same place as last year, next to the old Bridgebuster claim. We are asking that you tell us if you are going to come, so that we can have a head count for the dinner. You can email wpagold@wyoming.com or call or text 307-333-3061 to RSVP
    Old Business:
Claim Corner Posts: Chip offered to loan the association the use of a heavy duty post pounder when the group gets together to work on the project.
BLM changes: Chip and Misty attended the public meeting in Rock Springs. No decision has been made. Chip heard that the state is going to take the BLM to court if they make drastic changes.
    New Business:
Claims Agent: A discussion ensued about the roles and responsibilities of the claims agent, and compensating this person for their help. The officers spent some time going through the by-laws and reading specifically about the officers and agent. It was discovered that the claims agent is supposed to be the President. This makes sense because the officers can’t have claims because they count toward the Association’s claims for the small miner exemption. We will make these changes at the annual outing this year. In the meantime, Shawn Raymond motioned to compensate Bob Platzer, our claims agent, by giving him 100 points for the year that he has already helped us. This means that his membership will be paid with 50 points, and he will receive 50 extra points. He will also be reimbursed for his fuel to take the paperwork to Lander and Cheyenne. Chip Lansberry seconded the motion. All ayes; motion passed.
Website: Esther Jarvis offered to work with Keith Blair to learn administrative duties of the website and Facebook page. Keith gladly accepted the help. They will work together to make sure it is taken care of.
The next meeting will be at the Holiday Inn in Riverton on April 13, 2024. Lunch will be available for $14.95 per person if you would like to eat. We will meet at 12:00 pm for lunch, and begin the meeting when we finish eating, around 1. If you can’t make it to the meeting, we will have a Zoom meeting set up. Look for the link in your email, or on Facebook.
Deb Palmer won the 50/50 raffle.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:35 p.m.
