The "Day in the Park" was a great success and lots of fun for those who attended and helped. There was a last minute decision to obtain a gold coin to raffle off during our time there. It was a $5.00 1/10 oz gold coin replica worth a little over $100.00 current value. We had the drawing at 3:00 and the winner was Joy Lane. Thanks to all that participated. I did get a few pictures of the booth with some of the panners and are posted at Link to Photo's 06/30/08 The annual Outing on June 27 through the 29th was another success with lots of fun and some gold to be found. This year again we did not do a common dig so what you found out of the piles or the ore you collected you got to keep. Some people who work hard reaped great rewards but us who like to do more watching had fun in just visiting with old friends. The demonstration put on by Subsurface Imaging and Exploration was very informative with the prospects of maybe doing more work for us in the future. The x-ray flourescence analysis is a very interesting way to assay your ore and in my opinion is real close to the outcome of my fire assays. They indicated that it will identify many different compontents in our ores. For the time allotted to them they explained what and how most of it works and indicated that they could do assays a lot cheaper and quicker than a fire assay. The Ground Penetrating Radar (One Big Detector) was demonstrated but without doing a full grid on the area it would be hard to determine the full scope of the area. Subsurface Imaging & Exploration Brochure Subsurface Imaging Demo PDF The dinner was again great food to be had and as usual I filled my plate to full and felt bad the rest of the evening. The meeting with the election of officers and raffle later was a great success. Mini Outing Photo's 05/05/08 Today I received a letter from the DEQ stating that they are no longer issuing a Letter of Authorization (LOA) for recreational gold mining (Guideline 19). There fore we no longer need to contact them each year and request the renewal of this authorization. They also included this statement: "Please understand that you are free to pursue your gold mining activities just like you have; but this written authorization is no longer required for small scale recreational gold mining." The above statement is using the guideline 19 as the regulations of activities. Guideline 19 I did miss a very important part of the letter which is now stated below! I guess beings I have never dredged there I over looked it. It also states "If you are planning to do any gold dredging in the Douglas Creek area, specifically Medicine Bow please send a letter of notification to: Tom Florich or Mike Winters US Forest Service Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest 2468 Jackson St. Laramie, WY 82070." Jim 04/27/08 On 06/25/07 FDMAC notified us about a bill HR2016 that was proposed and now it has passed the House. We need to write our Senators about this bill not being to our advantage. Jim 02/28/08 We have receives some information on D. Hausel that might be interesting to some of you . This information is at D. Hausel Email Jim 1/06/08 There is some information being passed along from PLP that needs to have another letter writing campaign started. It is on bill S2438 which will remove user fees on Forest Service and BLM lands. The bill test can be read at S2438 Text and again our Senators can be emailed from their web pages Barrasso's Page and Enzi's Page 11/13/07 Here's a link brought to my attention by Bruce on how the senate is already talking on HR 2262. These are senators from NM. Bingaman, Domenici on Mining Law Modernization 11/10/07 At our meeting today we discussed the HR2262 bill that has now passed the House and will be heading for the Senate. We need to start a letter writing campaign to the Senators and get this bill stopped. If it passed Congress it will end small mining in the U.S.. There is a response letter from one Senator posted at HR 2262 information that has some good points that a person could use in writing their letter. These letters don't have to be elaborate but would be better if it stated some facts about this bill. I have put an example letter to give you an idea of how a simple one could look. 09/10/07 Carl has donated one of his claims to the club. We are still in the process of getting the paper work completed but members can still use the claim. Now we have got 16 claims with gold on them to work on. The map can be obtained at the Members Only Area 09/10/07 The Miners Grubstake Restaurant, Saloon & Store Grubstake Menu In Atlantic City, will be closed the whole month of November. The hour of operation on Sunday will be changing to closing at 3:00 pm instead of 5:00 pm. 08/26/27 Today I realized that I haven't add the Carrisa mine tour photos that Bonny and Bruce took. I have add them to my flickr account along with the outing photos Link to Flickr 08/02/07 Karla has sent me some pictures of Carl's trommel operation. I have added them to the flickr photo's with all the other pictures. Link to Flickr Jim 6/25/07 We have received another email from FDMAC about a bill in the 110th US Congress HR 2016. Here is a link to the email FDMAC which everyone should read and respond in some way to this notice. Jim 06/18/07 The club put on panning and equipment demonstrations at the Casper Gem & Mineral show. This was the first time for our club to do this type of show and was quite different from the shows I have done in the past. Most of the people were there looking for minerals and gems rather than being a booth in a craft show. With all the events going on in Casper we did have a good turn out. Some pictures of our demonstrations can be seen here. 05/15/07 I have put the pictures of the May mini outing that were sent to me at Mini Outing Thanks to those who shared their pictures. Jim 05/15/07 Here are some pictures of the Sourdough's that went to check out the claim in South Dakota. Needless to say the Cheechako's pictures are not available. South Dakota Field Trip Jim 09/23/06 I have put together a picture page of the work party that was held before the last meeting on September 9th. You can view the page at September Work Party 09/15/06 I have had a lot of people ask me about the claim maps that I have. I am the map maker so I have the best set available. I have decided to put the same maps out on the Claim Entry page in a PDF format so every one with the adobe program can save to their hard drive and print them out for themselves. If you don't have the adobe program Acrobat Reader it can be downloaded from the web and is free. Just click link on left to download. Jim 08/14/06 We had another successful mini outing on the 12th. People was shown the claims on Strawberry Creek and then we dug for some gold until the meeting time. Right before 4:00 the rain gods decided to dampen our party. After making everything wet the sun came back out and it was a nice evening. Pictures 07/11/06 Ed has shared the pictures he took at this years outing with me and I have made a web page so all of you could see them. The web page is at Outing Pictures From Ed Jim 6/13/06 The mini outing that was held at the Oregon Buttes area was a great success even though the rain and wind tried to run us off. The hamburgers cooked on the NEW club barbecue was great. They had a few high bankers set up and ran the material that was dug during the day. After the meeting people went out and dug more material that was run on Sunday. Pictures of outing can be viewed here. Photo Page Jim 01/03/2004 Bruce & Peggy has shared some photos with me to pass along to the members.
