The first WPA outing was a great success and a lot of fun.
This being our first outing Things were a little rough in the beginning.
We were a little slow informing members of times and dates and location.
But when it got rolling everything smoothed out and fell into place.
We were granted access to a private claim, and were allowed prospecting
rights for the day. *thanks jim* We also hauled in dirt from secret locations
for members to pan and our common dig. These locations could become new
WPA claims in the future.
Members worked the pile of dirt till there was nothing left of it and
we put all the gold and pickers in to vials and divided it up among all
who participated. Members also got a tour of a working commercial placer
operation and the remnants of an old one (The rock creek dredge).
We also had a great meal the club provided hamburgers hot dogs soda
chips and beans. A big thank you to the members who contributed to the
meal with side dishes and deserts every thing was delicious.
Everybody chipped in to help with the clean up of concentrates. (even
the dog)
"Hay how can I rough pan these cons with a dog in the tub"
You notice he is on a leash and the owner seems preoccupied at my expense
*thanks jim* (snicker)
Well after getting the cons cleaned up everybody got to ogle over the
gold.
We ended up with a nice pan of gold with around 6 pickers. One at the
right edge of the pan in the pic above was call the "banana picker".
It was a lot of fun seeing that much gold all in one place.
It was also a confirmation that the new claim areas we are working
on got good gold on them. I was happy to see the gold because even with
all the sample pans we took you never know what you got for sure till you
work the dirt and clean up the high bankers. I hope next year we can do
even better.
We hope you will join us next year it will be great fun!!
